Went for a drive down to Singapore over the weekend with Mummy, Baba, Amir and Muna. Amir had just one big huge WHITE shopping item on his list (nyek! ), and I just had one major place in mind to go to: HMV! Been craving for some good CDs and I couldn't stand it anymore!!!
The initial plan was to:
- Drive to JB early Saturday morning
- check into hotel
- take taxi/bus across into Singapore
- shop until night time
- return to JB, sleep for the night, drive back to Shah Alam the next day.
But then our car broke down on the highway near Pedas/Linggi. Yep. Very, very, very sucky. But what to do, dah nak jadi. So what with waiting for Plus Ronda to come, someone to check on the car to see what's wrong, waiting for another car to take us back to a nearby Plus office to wait it out, waiting for the tow truck to get our car, and waiting for a substitute car to be sent to us so that we can continue on our trip, it all took up about 4 to 5 hours, I think. Man that was tiring! All the waiting and not knowing what's going to happen next. Geh.
Anyway, we did continue on our trip, all thanks to the fact that Baba had a project nearby which happened to have a Kembara onsite. Granted, the ride did get a bit tight and squeezy for us 5 in that small car, but heh.... doesn't really matter . Budget travel laa konon hahaha.
Because of all those delays, we reached JB pretty late in the day. Still, we crossed into Singapore for fun, to see the night lights and Christmas decor on Orchard Road. We went again on Sunday for a full day to shop, and drove back to Shah Alam that night. Thanks Mummy and Baba for the trip!
My Christmas presents for myself:
Tristan Prettyman: Twentythree
Been looking for this CD for ages and couldn't find it anywhere!!! Was thankful to find it in HMV, the ONLY copy there!
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly: The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager
Was happy to see that they had a few copies of these
Red Sparowes / Gregor Samsa: (untitled split)
Another ONLY copy I found at the store!! It was a tad expensive but it's worth it!
The Sound of Animals Fighting: Lover, The Lord Has Left Us...
Some really good tracks on this one... glad that I bought it
The Format: Dog Problems
ONLY copy there as well!
As Tall As Lions: As Tall As Lions
ONLY copy! Excellent, excellent album. Grabbed it without a second thought
Disco Ensemble: First Aid Kit
Wasn't on sale or anything, so was a tad pricey. But what the heck, I found it, might as well buy it rather than go home regretting
Envy: Insomniac Doze
I squealed when I found this... only copy, quietly hiding in its own tiny little space. And I almost overlooked it too on my list, thank god I did a second run through to make sure I searched for everything on it!
We Are Scientists: Crap Attack
Wasn't on my shopping list, but saw it and thought it's worth a buy
The Decemberists: Crane Wife
Birthday present for Eema!
Deftones: Saturday Night Wrist
Rayman kirim!
Sadly, I couldn't find:
Alexisonfire: Crisis
I was surprised they didn't have this. Sniff. Have asked MakTeh to get from LA
The Audition: Controversy Loves Company
Wasn't really counting on finding it... have asked MakTeh to buy too
BOSSK: .1
Can't seem to find this anywheeeree waaaaaaaahhhhh *cries* Need someone in the UK to get it for me.... huhu
Chris Daughtry: Daughtry
But MakTeh's bought for me yey! Love all the songs on this album so double yey!
My Awesome Compilation: Actions
Couldn't find it at HMV... price is a tad over my budgeted amount in the US... so keeping this to the side for the time being
The Pipettes: We Are The Pipettes
MakTeh buying for me from Amoeba yeayyyyy ohmygod I miss Amoeba aaarrrhhhhhh why does it have to be halfway around the worrrrllddddddddd
Red Sparowes: Every Red Heart Shines Towards The Red Sun
Latest album, still couldn't find it. MakTeh managed to find it though, I think... I hope!
Snowden: Anti Anti
MakTeh getting from LA too yosh!
White Whale: WWI
Surprised I couldn't find it in HMV... 'cuz I saw it the last time I was there (during Mogwai trip) but it was out of my budget range so I thought I'd buy it this time around. But I couldn't find it anymore! Wahhhh! So sad. But cry not... yet another in a huge pile of CDs MakTeh is bringing back for me teehehehehee. Poor MakTeh, I wonder if she'll be hauling all this kirimans in a huge big red sack like Santa's!

Chiang Mai - Day 3
|
|
3rd day of our trip.... we went on a drive right up to Chiang Rai. We saw 3 different countries within one day!! Well, a span of mere hours in fact... hehe so cool. And it was 'cuz we went to the 'golden triangle' where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet... even took a ride on the Mekong river! Loads of fun, a lovely experience, you just have to read more about what we did as nicely chronologically-captured and written by Eema on her entry

Continuation of piccies from the Chiang Mai trip! On the second day we followed the group and headed out to the Maesa Elephant Camp. The elephants were so adorable!!!! And intelligent! I was sorta skeptical at first about how they'd treat and train the elephants, I'd have been very upset if I found them to be cruel to the gentle animals. But upon seeing the way the handlers are with their elephants I'm quite assured that they're treating those animals well
We also stopped by an orchid farm, with loads of beeeyooootiful orchid blooms. I wish it was my back garden! (Tapi Mummy nye garden pun still very pretty gak so that's fine ). They sold these pretty necklaces made out of real orchid petals so I bought a couple for myself, and we also bought one as a birthday gift for Tiong.
After that it was a few more stops at a couple of industrial tourist spots, but we broke off from the group and made our way back to the hotel. Eema and Muna rested in the room whilst I took the opportunity to swim a few laps in the swimming pool. The water was cold though!!! So I only swam for half an hour before going back inside, where I found an unoccupied jacuzzi so I jumped right in and warmed myself up! It was all fine and blissful until I heard a Japanese girl's voice, so I opened my eyes and saw this naked chick standing there excitedly exclaiming something about the jacuzzi! Then another two old Japanese ladies appeared, and the three of them jumped into the tub with me... and they were all stark naked! I think they'd just finished a session at the sauna.... I know they're women and all and there's nothing on them that I haven't seen but I couldn't help feeling a tad awkward, being in a tub with three naked Japanese women! Hahahahhaa. So I left a few minutes later, averting my eyes
Oh oh oh!!! And that night we went to watch the Simon Chiang Mai Cabaret show.... full of ladyboys!!! It was a pretty good show, actually. And OMG the boys, I mean girls, were soooo pretty! I felt lousy 'cuz even I am not as beautiful as they are!!!! Sheesh!
Anyway, enough babbling, enjoy the pics! Pics from Eema's camera are on her page

Chiang Mai - Day 1
|
|
Mummy took her staff on a trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. I, being one never to say no to travel opportunity especially to places I've never been, said I wanted to tag along. Initially Izhar and Amir were allocated into the trip, but since they didn't want to/could not go, Mummy said I could take Eema and Muna along instead! Berlangsunglah rombongan Cik Tipah ke Chiang Mai!
Here are pictures of the first day... We had an early morning flight, so Eema and Muna slept over at my house and we left eaaaarly morning on Friday. Thankfully we were psyched about the trip so we weren't complaining despite the grogginess! Hehe.
Eema's already uploaded her pics with an account of what we did on the first day, so instead of retyping everything I'll just let you read about it on her entry. (sebenarnye saye malas nak type panjang2... been down with fever since I got back, I can only last so long sitting in front of the PC before longing for my bed again...)

Potted Kittens
|
|
Potted kittens in your garden, anyone?
Looking at my own earlier post about Scram and Panic reminded me of these set of pictures I'd taken and didn't upload yet. These were taken at Saie's house during her engagement ceremony. I went out from the backdoor for a break, and found them like this! Aren't they adorable?! Definitely cuteoverload material, no?

Tony Roma's (bukan bulu roma!)
|
|
Weehee! My new uber-favourite place to eat at (tatkala ade duit or ade orang bayarkan hahaha). The food is delicious.. the ribs are mouth-watering... and my favourite dish is the Tony Sampler!!!! *licks lips not unlike a satisfied kitty after a tuna meal*
First time I went there was just about the time it opened, and brought Weird along to join myself, Shahrin, Kysern (even though he tak puasa ), and Iqbal for buka puasa. Shahrin was the 'hantu' behind the venue... he kept harping on about how yummy it is so I finally said ok let's go buka puasa there.
Once I'd tasted the food and loved it I hauled my family along pulak.. but that night they ran out of the Tony's Sampler so I was really sad!!!!!!!!!!!
Izhar wasn't around then, so last week we went again 'cuz Izhar's back from Melbourne on his Summer break (but no pics).
I'm craving the food again now... isk! Gemok! Gemok! Tapi sedap...
