March Babies Family Birthday Party

He'd just arrived and already he was glomped by me >:)

Believe it or not I was being interviewed..

Later that day (after spending most of the afternoon sleeping and lazing around due to being tired after the marathon hahaha), our extended family all came to my house for dinner. Mummy hosted a birthday party for all the March babies in the family, and it was also a double celebration welcoming MakNgah's Danish family who were here for a holiday.

I took part in the 10km run category, along with some friends from work. Had to wake up at 5.30am in order to drive into KL on time! Check out the pics.. we started off even before sunrise hehe. Masyarakat sihat!

Despite this being my first marathon ever (and hardly no training prior, aside from the usual gym routines), I completed the 10km within the 90-minute time limit set and got a medal and certificate of completion. Hehe... so proud of me!

Just stumbled by your FP. I'm proud of you too. I'm just starting to run. If you run regularly..lemme know. I need some motivation...Argh !!! Tue 29-Apr-2008 10:52

Shahrin's Birthday Dinner

Birthday boy
With his mates

View all 26 photos...
Shahrin invited his close friends to dinner at Rahsia. I'm very touched he considered me one of those people! Hehehe . Had a lovely lovely time.. all his other friends are funny and friendly... oh and the birthday boy paid for our meal! Silly guy insisted on doing so...

After dinner they all went to one of the clubs nearby, but I didn't join in 'cuz I had to have an early night (due to having a 10km run to take part in the next morning!). So I ran off with Shahrin's birthday cake instead. Nyeheheh.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BULAT!!!!! And thank you for dinner! Nanti you ngan Ririn kahwin I ikut tau gi Bali...

Career Counselling Session with Shafiq

Takyah pening2... just listen to my advice can or not? :D
Serba-salah nak accept rasuah ke tak
Ice-cream yang dah kene jampi by me

Met up with Shafiq for dinner at the Curve. He had a pressing matter to talk to me about (well, more like I forced it out of him), and I totally 'basuh'-ed him over it during dinner hahaha. Poor boy, kene bebel panjang whilst trying to enjoy his spaghetti at Vivo. So afterwards, nak pujuk and sebagai 'rasuah' for him to accept my advise, I treated him to Baskin Robbins.

Shafiq... be a man! Do the right thing!

BKK Birthday!

I had the most fantastic birthday weekend in Bangkok!!!!! I have my Trimontel babes to thank for that.. but I'll post all the pics and write more about the trip later. I have so many entries to upload, so many stories to tell, but so little time! Maybe 'cuz I'm too busy living the stories hehehe

Anyway.. this particular entry is a response to my parents (specifically to respond to Mummy's comment to Baba's post) and to shout out my thanks to everyone who wished me!! I LOVE YOU GUYS TO BITS! No.. make that TERRABITS!

So Ma... what you say? Married at 25? Hmm okey... Kaklong chill jer, tak pressure langsung! Hahaha. But I guess I preempted that thought of yours and picked me a guy one day shy of my 25th birthday...

Amcam? Ada setuju? Mesti after this Mummy pun nak dia fly the plane on your trip to Bali kan

***disclaimer: Uhh. If you (kind viewer of my fotopage) happen to know the pictured guy above... or if you happen to be Dinesh yourself... then uhh... uhhh... click that 'x' button on the top right-hand corner of your screen and never visit this page again! Nevvaahhh!!!! Or I can hide under a rock for the rest of my life. Hahaha. Alternatively, give me a call and I'd be happy to talk wedding arrangements . My parents are getting a bit desperate, see. Oh and by the way... Those sparkly painted bits and the 'winnar' statement were artistically added on by my good friend Muniyandi. I had nothing to do with it aside from owning the camera with the paint features. Honest. ****

Big huge major glomps to the following people for their wishes, in chronological order (if I can remember correctly hehe):

1) Martin... who wished me on the 8th of March. 'Cuz he set his calendar reminder to remind him 2 days early but thought it was the day itself. Silly. I shoo-ed him away when he came to my cubicle to wish me. I mean... 2 days early?!! What!! Ordered him to wish me again on the real date
2) Kysern... who wished me on the 9th of March, 'cuz I myself set his calendar reminder to remind him 1 day in advance... sheeesh! I should've known better with men Shamelessly put reminder oso still so blur...
3) Shahrin... who also wished me on the 9th, 'cuz he wanted to be the first to wish me but didn't realize two others were already ahead of him. Unintentionally at that
4) Jeremy... again, another early wish on the 9th, but since he's Jeremy Little *teehee* and it was HIS birthday that day, I didn't tell him off to wish me on the actual day, but instead accepted it wholeheartedly
5) Amir... and yes, his SMS came a tad early in MY timezone in Bangkok. But I consider him somewhere in the list of 'firsts' to wish me 'cuz Melbourne's 4 hours ahead! Haha
6) Sya... who aside from wishing me happy birthday gave me the good news that Sapik's (my ex-band's vocalist) new band won in a band competition held just the night before! Yeay!
7) Hairie... who called me about 10 minutes to midnight in Malaysia, according to my watch, but who insisted that his watch is already midnight! Haha what lar.
Weird... my cousin with whom I get to be the same age for just a day in a year kekeke
9) Zairi
10) Yang from Dubai... rindu Yang bangat! Yang.. balik tak hujung bulan? Try la balik for 30th and datang my BBQ party pweaaaseeee
11) Nina... along with some AirAsia-related gossip that were music to my ears *wink wink*
12) Dona... wow surprisingly makcik ni dah tak lagging skarang!!! Haha peace Dona! I pun dah belikan your birthday present yeayyyyyy
13) Lia... ntah mana laaa budak ni menghilang, so long since we last chatted, but thankfully she muncul again on my birthday to wish me! So happy... can't wait for you to balik sayang!
14) Mummy... first message I woke up to the morning of the 10th!
15) Tiong.. tapi tanpa kicauan sebab SMS jer. Tiong.. ni aku dah balik Mesia ko nyanyi ok?
16) Kaklong Shikin... who's happy sebab now dia dah ade geng suku abad. Eh, ke dekad? Aargh fail BM! Hahaha!
17) Rayman... the first to wish me in Thai. Tapi Thai dia sedikit mango sticky rice lah
18) Yahya... tak sangka pakcik baru kahwin ni sempat ingat my birthday!!! Hehe thanks Ayhay!~
19) Baba... who also created an entry on his fotopage (which I was initially worried about whilst I was in Bangkok with no time to access the internet... even Muna and Eema said, "Mesti Baba ko tengah sebok compile and karang fotopage entry utk ko nih..." and I just said "I hope he doesn't put up any embarassing pictures!!!" )
20) Azahary... who further encouraged me to 'bawak balik sorang laki hensem tau'. Adeih.
21) MakCu KRU...
22) Saie... tapi Saie dah sebut since so many days before on an almost daily basis, about my birthday ehehehe.
23) Nicholl... who surprised me with a call right in the middle of my shopping stint in Chatuchak!
24) Adam... tahun ni takde pulak wish me a week in advance just to be ahead of the pack! Dah pandai wish on time hehehe
25) Shy... sorry I wasn't around this weekend babe! And thanks for wanting to make the effort for a surprise for me as well hahaha. I bet Weird's party was wild huh?? Takpe we all celebrate big time on the 30th ok! Can't wait!
26) Izhar... he and Pia wish delayed sket, tapi I don't mind 'cuz they were in a 'late' timezone waaay over in Europe hehe. But he texted me whilst standing in line to get Barcelona vs Madrid football tickets... so that made me jealous!!! Ingatkan nak sms ckp there's a concorde plane waiting to take me to Europe to join you two for my birthday present...
27) Joe.. thanks for remembering! (konon je awal2 buat lupe tarikh... haha)
28) Hafiz... who called me and was like, "I kat Kedah..." and I was like "Really?? Balik kampung ek? I kat Bangkok! Meh la join haha" and he was like "Bangkok??? REALLY?? Ok ok jap I datang" and hangs up
29) Nisa.. gelakkan Fizah dah geng 'tua' ngan Kaklong ke... takper... best tau 25 tahun. 25 is the new 16 okey!
30) Sham.. and I asked him to make a dedication for me on air if he was working, but not sure if he did. Like I would've been able to listen to it la pun kan haha
31) Waitresses at D'Cafe, and waiters at Hard Rock Cafe
32) Telefon band at Hard Rock Cafe! 'Cuz they sang for me hehehe
33) The other dining patrons of HRC on the night of 10th of March

AND NOT FORGETTING MUNA AND EEMA OF COURSE!!!! They were with me all birthday weekend, celebrating my pre-birthday, birthday, as well as post-birthday days with song and laughter (and lawak lame yang kengkadang aku pun tak larat nak gelak)

And that was the end of the 10th of March and prior list. Sesape yg wish lambat I consider NULL AND VOID (dengar tu Shafiq...) and I DEMAND A BIG HUGE PRESENT TO MAKE UP FOR IT!!! *throws quarter-of-a-century-old tantrum*

MakTeh: Yep yep dapat the e-card!!! Hehe tenkyu tenkyuuuu! Hugs to both u and UncaBob

Nana: Nyeheheh pandai yer better late than never konon! Ok la in that case besdey you on April Fool's nanti, I wish bulan lapan la ek... lagi lambat lagi bermakne

Ida: Thankyouuu very much for your well wishes!!!

Bangkok Birthday - Day 3

My belated birthday omelette
25 years + 1 day old
Cool 2nd hand CDs I found for a cheap price
View all 22 photos...

Highlights of the third (and last, sob!) day:

@--> Went to D'Cafe again for our breakfast. This time, it's "Happy Belated Birthday" for me! (nak jugak tu celebrate over-over hahaha)

@--> Went to the city, to a few shopping malls. I only had one store to go to...the 2nd-hand CD warehouse at Siam Discovery Mall. Found a handful of really cool CDs, but had to go easy on my purchases 'cuz I forgot my credit cards!! Buduh gila hahaha. But I found Snow's '12 inches of Snow' album going for like, RM10, so I HAD to buy that!! Come on... it's the classic "Infoormer!!!! A-licky-boom-boom-down!"

@--> Came back to Khaosan, went for a final round of Thai massage, collected our luggage and grabbed a taxi to the airport.

@--> Flight was delayed, so we hung out at Burger King where I feasted on their delicious veggie burger (which isn't available here, so I stuffed myself like crazy there haha). Haih... so sad to leave Bangkok. It was a short but great weekend holiday!

More pics at Eema's entry.

Bangkok Birthday - Day 2

My first birthday bill of the day! Hehe
Breakfast time
With my scrambled eggs and toast... yumm yumm
View all 62 photos...

Highlights of the second day:

@--> IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

@--> Since Muna had bought a whole boxful of candles the night before, the three of us somehow came up with the idea to put candles in everything I ate and drank on my birthday! Haha! (I said all three came up with the idea 'cuz I can't for the life of me remember who initiated the idea.... the three of us were on our typical mengarut chats and as usual any crazy thoughts we got would mould into one snowball-massive idea from three screwed up brains ).

@--> Went for breakfast at our favourite D'Cafe... all the breakfast meals there are sooo yummy yummy. First birthday candle of the day went into my scrambled eggs

@--> Took a taxi to the nearest BTS station, from where we took the Skytrain to Chatuchak. Spent the entire day at that market, shopping like crazy with the very limited cash that we had hehe. Nasib laa bende2 sana murah giler!

@--> Had lunch at around 3.30pm, and we managed to find the same Halal stall Muna and I ate at last year. Ordered a tomyam to share between the three, and each had a fried rice dish. Food was good... *licks lips*

@--> Came back to our motel, where Eema and Muna rested for a while. I walked back to the BKKer store to pick up my t-shirt orders (the designs that I wanted wasn't available the previous day, so I ordered them to be made).

@--> At about 8.30pm we took a taxi and went to Hard Rock Cafe where I treated the girls to dinner. Kami terhibur dengan kemunculan seekor makcik koboi merah dan rakannye yang cuba senggorat jejaka sekeliling hahaha. The live band started playing and one of the singers was really cute! Teehee.. kami terus menggarip. Two ladies were seated at a table behind us.. a mother and a daughter... and they were having loads of fun as well, both of them dancing and stuff. So we joined them.. and the daughter looked relieved 'cuz she could let her mom dance with us instead hahaha. Damn, the aunty gile hebat laa partayyy!! She boogied harder than I did! Two thumbs up to them Had an awesome time there, we stayed until the band finished all their sets (they even performed the birthday song for me! )

Check out Eema's entry for more photos

Bangkok Birthday - Day 1

Decided to 'make camp' outside of McDonald's
All the tables inside were occupied... and it was 6am!
Still cheerful in the early hours of the morning :D
View all 81 photos...

Highlights of the first day:

@--> We had a super early flight, so Muna and Eema slept over at my Putrajaya house and we hitched a ride with Nina at 5am to the LCCT airport.

@--> Muna and Eema came with lime-green sling bags, and said "Tipah Tipah Tipah tukar la bag hijau gak jom biar boria!" so I did. Hahaha. Macam group tour nak pegi Umrah pakai bag sama. And coincidentally all three of us wore the same jeans we went to Chiang Mai and had painted

@--> A very handsome co-pilot flew us to Bangkok on AirAsia. Whoooweeeee! Upon landing I shamelessly went up to the cockpit and asked for a picture and his name . Found out later that my friend Shahril from high school knows him. Drats. Now I'm embarassed

@--> Arrived in Bangkok and took a cab to Khaosan Road. Got lucky in obtaining a triple room at Siam Oriental Inn (we couldn't make reservations as it was full so were asked to walk-in). Room had air conditioning and private hot shower.. RM85 a night. Good deal.

@--> Had a short rest and then went back out for a walk around the area. Met a very helpful and friendly local man named Narong, who spoke English and is a teacher/monk at a temple so we chatted with him and he recommended us places to visit and things to do. We learnt quite a bit from him, about what colour tuk-tuks to take and where to ride on the riverboats etc. He even called out to a tuk-tuk driver, and spoke to him in Thai for us. Got us a good deal of bringing us around to all the touristic spots we should visit for a cheap fare. So we thanked him, said goodbye and hopped onto the tuk-tuk.

@--> Went around to a couple of temples... see Eema's entry for a more detailed write-up on that. Met a few matsalleh tourists who were very friendly and chit chatted with them. Even learnt about the secrets to precious stone trading from a diving enthusiast German guy hahaha.

@--> We were later ABANDONED (yes.. it's true) by our tuk-tuk driver. He dropped us at Luang Pho To, and we went in and took pictures etc, and when we came back out he wasn't there! We thought he'd gone around the block and will come back for us, so we waited.. and waited.. and he didn't come back! We haven't even paid him yet! 20 minutes later we just shrugged, said "Oh well... poor guy didn't get his 50 baht... must've been an emergency" and we set off on foot instead

@--> Walked and searched for the BKKer store. Based on directions given to us by the guy who started the business and designs the artwork (Eema had emailed him prior to us going there, asking if the shop would be open and that we'd love to visit), we would find the store next to the "Bangkok Bank Banglumpoo Blanch" which had us giggling like crazy . He wouldn't be around 'cuz he's now based in France or something like that. But he said we'd find his mom manning the shop. So armed with my map, we looked for it, and spotted the Bangkok Bank Banglumpoo branch, gave a quick squee and ran across the street (deftly avoiding the crazy bangkok traffic) into the shop. Both the mom and dad of the guy were there, and they were very very kind and friendly and we spent quite a while selecting t-shirts, chatting and taking pictures with them.

@--> Went on to do a crazy stunt. We decided to 'try out' a local means of transportation mentioned by Mr Narong. Found the semi-hidden jetty in the back alleys of the houses, and hopped onto the most thrilling river-sampan ride we've ever been on . No words can explain what the ride was like, but I shall try. Imagine a sampan service functioning very similarly to our LRT system. Yes, at the same speed. But without proper cement platforms as the stations, instead you had wooden-platforms to jump onto at your stop, in a matter of seconds before the sampan speeds away again. And sometimes, you'll end up sitting too near the front or rear of the sampan that when you step off the side of the sampan, you'll fall into the river. So you need to do some stunts... and do a tipsy-toe run along the small ledge of the sides of the sampan until you can jump onto the platform. Oh what fun!

@--> Walked (and walked.. and walked.. and walked... very far the walking!) to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. It's like the equivalent of Chatuchak market but at night and a tad more organized and presentable. Spent only a couple of hours there 'cuz we were too tired to continue much longer.

@--> Took a tuk-tuk back to our motel, crashed on our beds, showered, rested... and then...

@--> Close to midnight we went back out onto Khaosan Road to celebrate my birthday! One of the nice cafes was still open so we went in and the girls bought me a banoffi pie and Muna went off to 7-Eleven to search for candles! When the clock struck midnight we screeched the Happy Birthday song and orang kedai smue wish me and yeayyy it was lovely!! See. Birthday celebrations need not be grand and complicated to be great... I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Trimontel babes for the simple midnight singing and cake-eating! Thaaaankkk youuuu Eema and Muna!!!
