Aww...feeling torn about going to 'war'?

It all started when I thought it was high time we did something fun together (we hadn't had a gathering in a while...) and sent out an email to the Grads asking if they were up for an activity that'll give us a chance to shoot at each other.
A couple of months and countless email spams later (most of which contained myself screaming "COWAABUNGGAAAAA!!!"), with myself and Simon wearing the 'organizer' hats, a bunch of us dragged ourselves out of bed way too early (especially after a Friday night of partying) on a Saturday morning and headed to NPNG Sports Center for some paintballing action!!!
We split into two teams and played games on both the indoor and outdoor arenas, and despite scoring ourselves major bruises we had so much fun! It was awesome... and for the Grads that didn't manage to make it this time around, fret not! We're planning on another game after Raya! So start target-practising and improving your aims from now on!

Truth be told
|
|
I wanted to post this on my LJ, but then I thought I have a higher visitor count here, so the option with the bigger audience wins.
If you didn't happen to be watching/have access to UK's Sky news , you MUST watch this clip. It has British MP George Galloway bluntly speaking his mind (and relaying what I believe are the exact thoughts of others around the world) and harshly challenging interviewer Anna Botting during an interview on the Israeli - Hizbullah war.
I could only aspire to have courage like that. He's got balls yo. Hats off in deep respect for his honesty and frankness. True, he's an anti-war activist but the last person I'd expect this to come out of is from the mouth of a British guy. Telling off domineering, manipulating international media on live TV! HELL YEAH!!!! And the frickin' ignorant Anna Botthead should go save those beloved Zionist soldiers herself. I loved it when she tried to swing and end the interview back her way by saying 'we'll have to leave it there, but I have to say that some people might find it offensive when more families are mourning their dead bla bla bla' and he WHACKED her back down by pointing out she obviously values Israeli blood more than Palestinian and Lebanese lives. BOOYAH, BITCH!!!!!!!!!! Drop it like it's haaawwwt yo

**Edit:** Oh, and to quote my Mak Ngah...
"And when they want global attention deflected from Israeli atrocities in Lebanon and their own inefficiency in handling the situation, they create a worldwide panic and inconvenience to thousands of travelers by saying they’ve foiled a plot to blow up planes mid-air! Sheesh, tolonglah!"
Damn right Mak Ngah! Toloonglah! The big hoo-haa about the foiling of a terrorist plot came just at the right time! Coincidence? Pungkoq hang lahhhh England oi! All news sites just mention about the authorities uncovering the plot, tapi MACAMANE they first uncovered it takde pulak nak cerita. They still need a few hours to come up with a feasible-enough story. Eeeeee tensennnn makcik tensennnnn. Sebab diorang bongok camni la tak menang World Cup tau? Takdak berkat!

Couldn't pass up the chance to watch We Are Scientists perform in KL! Went with Anim, Eema, Muna, Weird and Felix... and the showcase was supposedly only for 'Non-Muslims, 21 years and above'. Err.. macamana kami masuk ye?
We stood smack-dab in front of the stage, I could simply reach out and pluc on Chris' bass strings if I wanted to . I guess it was a good thing Keith was on the other side of the stage... otherwise I'd have not been able to restrain myself from grabbing him hahaha. Oh but then on his side of the stage there a bunch of gedik girls that were my gooooood... a sore sight for my eyes! Smoking and drinking like it was the coolest, most sexy thing to do whilst geletik-ing away. Stress ok nampak diorang. Rase nak jentik2 jer.
Focusing back on the show... WAS were great. Add to that, Keith and Chris were so funny, they could be stand-up comedians! They bantered a lot in between songs or when there were technical problems.. some jokes of which sounded veeeeeeeeery sarcastically directed to some of the fangirlies there I think hahaha (Keith: "Yeah.. we've gotta switch cables now. 'Cuz we're changing keys for the next song, and you know how we need to switch cables for different keys" ). I was also surprised to hear Keith's speaking voice being quite... penyek.. ehehe.. as compared to his singing voice which sounds great . Michael stayed very calm, serious and quiet though throughout the show, sitting there behind his drumset. Oh, but I'm not sure if it was just me being conscious or anything, but I think he might've gotten a bit weirded out by how intensely I was watching him play the drums. Muaha.. maaf yer bang... saya bukan psycho... saya hanya budak ingin belajar, melihat anda main gendang
And! And! And! As they finished and walked off stage, I shouted 'Great show!' to Chris and he shook my hand! Woot!
Recap of the night aside, here are the pictures I took.... And I have to say I'm pretty happy with how most of them turned out . Also, short clips I took during the showcase uploaded here

Hey big spendaaahhhhh
|
|
Weeheeee! Heppi spender dey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to watch We Are Scientists, and the roadie dude (who looked like Dan Estrin from one side and a tougher version of Travis Barker on the other) had jeans on that kept riding down his bum and showing us his worn, grey cotton briefs. Wowweee Junior Juice!! Kami amat happy. We nicknamed him Crouching Roadie (Un)Hidden Spender. Now we understand why he was flashing his undies (same goes to entire band of Orbit Cinta 'Spender' Benjamin at last Saturday's gig)... it's to celebrate National Underwear Day!!
Let us all tie up our favourite pair of worn undies onto a pole and stick it up outside your house! Boxers Gemilang! Y-Fronts Gemilang! Cotton Briefs Gemilang! Silk Panties Gemilang! G-String Gemilang!
(err... as with my other entries... pictures will come up soon )

Permanent good can never be the outcome of untruth and violence
|
|
| Quote: | Dear friends,
Right now a tragedy is unfolding in the Middle East. Thousands of innocent civilians have been killed or wounded in the bombings in Lebanon, Palestine and Israel and the death toll is rising every day. If the US, Syria or Iran get involved, there is a chance of a catastrophic larger war.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for an immediate ceasefire and the deployment of international troops to the Israel-Lebanon border, and been strongly supported by almost every world leader. This is the best proposal yet to stop the violence, but the US, the UK, and Israel have refused to accept it.
I have just signed a petition calling on US President Bush, UK Prime Minister Blair, and Israeli Prime Minister Olmert to support Kofi Annan's proposal. If millions of people join this call, and we advertise our views in newspapers in the US, UK, and Israel, we can help pressure these leaders to stop the fighting. Go to the link below and sign up now!

With hope,
You. |

Singapore trip was full of happy-smiley-sunshiney-floatey moments! Mogwai was fantabulistic! And all this time, listening to their songs, admiring... in awe.. meng-dewa-kan diorang... I never imagined that one day I'd actually TALK and JOKE with them! *is extremely starstruck* It was surreal... Hotel was heavenly, food was sumptious, and the shopping was therapeutic
Will update more later! We just got back, it's darned late, and I've got an early morning meeting tomorrow!

Singapore Day 2: Mt Emily Park, Orchard Street, trip home
|
|
We had a whole day to spare before heading back home on the 6pm bus, so we:
- Woke up early and enjoyed breakfast at the hotel (included in room rates). Met the hotel manager, Dora, who is a very pleasant lady. Oh, we saw some pop-starry-looking people, and she told us that they were the current Singapore Idol contestants! They were staying at that hotel too for the duration of the competition. I found them pretty amusing to look at. Hehe.
- After breakfast we walked across the street to Mt Emily Park to relax, unwind, take in the beautiful greenery, and shoot lots of pictures!
- Came back to the hotel, packed our stuff, checked out and left our luggage in their locker.
- Walked to Orchard Street and embarked on a shopping spree (well, not really). It started to drizzle just as we reached the shopping street, and thankfully enough we managed to make it to HMV before it really poured. We also stayed long enough in the store that by the time we left, it had stopped raining! Haha. Totally borong inside HMV. I bought like, 10 CDs or something heh. Couldn't resist
- After HMV we split up for a while with Eema and Muna off to find a Japanese merchandise store, and myself and Anim walking right up to the end of the street to go to Borders and the Apple center. We met back up again at another one of the malls where we had a late lunch.
- Anim and I had nothing else in particular to do, so we split up again and went back to the Esplanade where I had a second helping of Max Brenner!
- Met back up at the hotel, collected our luggage, hailed a cab and off we went to catch our bus back to Malaysia. Reached PJ at about 11.30pm and Baba picked us up.
Check out all the pics!

Finally, the day for the Mogwai concert has come!
We'd bought tickets for the earliest Aeroline bus to Singapore (so that we reach there earlier and can maximise our short stay there!), which meant that we had to leave the house before 7a.m. in order to get to the departure point in time. Since it was so early, Muna, Eema and Anim all spent the night before at my Shah Alam house, and Amir was kind enough to send us to PJ where we took the bus from.
We reached Singapore at almost 2pm and took a cab to our hotel, Hangout @ Mt Emily. The minute we set foot and checked into that place we were smitten! It was recommended to us by a friend of Muna's, and when we got there and met with the lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, we knew why it got such rave reviews. It's actually a no-frills hostel/budget-type accomodation, but we felt like we'd stepped into a pretty nifty designer hotel for all we cared! Heheh. It had chic and funky interior design, and the staff were extremely friendly and chatty and hospitable. The hotel's located on Mt Emily and is about a 15-minute walk to Orchard Street, so I'd recommend anyone going to Singapore and looking for a value-for-money place to stay at, to check into Hangout Hotel. They've got dorm rooms which are great if you're travelling alone, twin rooms, triple rooms, and even rooms with 4 single beds (which was the one we took). It's a very popular place though, so I'd advise booking way ahead in advance
After a short rest and a quick freshening up in the room, we headed back out and started walking in search of a place to eat lunch. We passed by Bras Basah Complex where I stopped by Swee Lee music store for a brief browse . Didn't buy anything though... maybe when I go back to Singapore at the end of the year! We continued on our walk, but none of the places we saw were interesting enough to eat at, so we decided to just head straight towards Suntec City. It was quite a long walk but we got to take in a lot of the sights so it was fun. Once at the massive shopping complex we saw that they had Carl's Jr, so I immediately headed in that direction!! I LOVE Carl's Jr and was majorly bummed when they closed all their outlets here in KL, so I was super happy at seing the fast food chain in Singapore!
After our huuuuge lunch (we totally overdosed on chili chese fries!), we walked around the complex for a while, going in and out of the little shops and whatnots. They also had a toy fair going on and a lot of the toys were on huuuuge discounts, so we went there and each of us ended up buying some odd toy or another for about $2 hahaha At around 6pm I decided it was about time we headed to the Esplanade so we did. Walked over there and went to the box office to collect our concert tickets, after which we still had a little over an hour to spare, so we went outside by the bay to hang out. I was starting to feel a bit tired and sleepy by then, so I thought a good cup of coffee and a light snack before the concert would be rejuvinating. We started looking around for a cafe, and as we walked in front of one particular shop I looked in and thought, "Hmm.. the decor looks so familiar. Similar to Max Brenner's in Melbourne" and that made me pause, I looked up at the sign, and believe it or not, it was Max Brenner indeed!!!! All thoughts of coffee went straight out of my mind and it was all chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate from then on. I squeed and dragged the other three into the shop, in one excited breath exclaiming "korang-kene-try-minum-sini-aku-blanje-trust-me-you'll-LOVE-IT!" We had our uber-yummy chocolate drinks, and there was no coming back from ooh-la-la-heavenly-bliss from then on. We literally walked with huge dopey smiles on our faces as we left the shop haha.
Once we finished our drinks we headed back next door for the Mogwai concert. When we got inside the theatre and found our seats we were like, "Woh!! This is one heckuva view, and the stage is JUST THERE!" so needless to say we were a happy bunch. We were seated right at the front of the balcony overlooking the stage, so we had nothing in front of us to hinder the view, and we could see the entire stage set up clearly. It was well worth the ticket price. As we settled in, we started noticing a lot of familiar faces in the crowd... I think it's safe to say that a majority of the audience were Malaysians!! Mogwai should've just done their concert in Malaysia lah .
The concert was spectacular. I LOVE Mogwai music on CD and hearing them live was a totally new experience altogether. Serious best giler piggy nak mampos Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'music to my ears'. I felt like floating and flying around to the songs... and as we later talked about it, we all think that the combination of superb Max Brenner hot chocolate with Mogwai music gets you high like no other! Hahaha. We were so happy!
Once the concert ended, we went outside and saw that they were having an autograph session. Initially we thought we'd just skip it... but then since we had nowhere else to rush to anyways, we decided to join the line. We must've been one of the last ones and were waaaaaaaaaaaaay down at the end of the queue heheh. We did manage to get to the guys though, and they were really nice and down to earth. Until today I really can't believe that I'd actually spoken to the guys in Mogwai!!! One of the bestest experiences of my life, ever.
After getting our stuff autographed, we went just outside of the theatre to an outdoor food court to grab a light supper before heading back to the hotel. Not long later, the Mogwai guys went there too for food! They were so relaxed and casual about it too... didn't act like huge rock stars or anything. They actually walked past us and we were like, "Eh... isn't that... THEM?" and waved a meek hello hahaha. Yes we were star struck. Who wouldn't be? They're like... music-gods to me!
Definitely one of the bestest days of the year. The decade. The century!
p/s: I'd actually sneaked in my video camera into the concert and took lots of videos . I might upload one or two... but in the mean time, here are a couple of non-concert videos that I'd already uploaded:
1) Us getting Mogwai's autographs and talking to the band!
2) Doing the happy dance

KSC Cyberjaya Idols - Quarter Final Round (part 2)
|
|
'Stole' some pictures of the Idols Quarter Finals from Dennis' camera... (Dennis, hope you don't mind me uploading here hehe... )
Oh and uhhm... looking at the pictures of me performing... I think Kurt Cobain would've killed me if he saw me grinning away like a Cheshire cat, singing Man Who Sold The World. I mean.. I'd never seen anyone seem so happy singing Nirvana! Dah la I screwed up the guitar-playing hahahahaha *is guilt-ridden for being so totally un-rock*

KSC Cyberjaya Idols - Quarter Final Round
|
|
Muahaha delayed pictures of the Quarter Final round of our Idol competition 'cuz initially I was contemplating whether or not to put this entry up (embarassed la konon hahaha). But then, now that I know that I got the highest judges' marks AND highest votes amongst all during the Quater Finals, I am shy no more!
Ahaha yep.. believe it or not. I don't know how or why... I think I was the least serious about the competition amongst the contestants, but I got highest marks AND votes. Uhh. Riiiight. Definitely the William Hung of the competition then . What song did I sing? I decided (at lunch time, a mere few hours before the show, no less!) on David Bowie/Nirvana's Man Who Sold The World song (and brought up all sorts of nostalgic memories of high school days in most of my counterparts hahahah). I was so frickin' nervous and I somewhat sucked and I was all shaky singing and that. The other singers were definitely WAAYY better... and yes, there are videos (it was out of my control, videos WERE taken after all, sheesh). Watch them all here. But I dunno, once the vids are on YouTube they got a bit unsynchronized though, between audio and visual... not quite sure why... a problem encountered during the upload process or if it's something with streaming or what ('cuz the original vid files are just fine). Oh well it's not like it's gonna be viewed on StarWorld or anything kan...
Anyway, highest points meant that I was through to the Semi Finals right? WRONG! Bwahaha.. it just so happened that the Semi Final competition was held on the SAME DAY as my Mogwai concert in Singapore.. so I forfeited lah. Thank god! Weehehee.. otherwise I'd have had to come up with action plan #3 to make a fool of myself once again
