Live & Loud : Acoustic
|
|
Thursday night, 29th December.
Even if I hadn't gotten the free tickets, I wouldn't have missed Acoustic night! James Morrison and Rick Price, a winning combo of old and new talent. Nina and I got caught in a traffic jam though on the way there, as it was raining. We made it on time though, and caught up with the rest of the gang (Dona, Eema, Weird, Amir + friends).
Rick Price took the stage by himself.. no other musicians, no other backup singers. Just him and a guitar (or a piano, depending on the song). And he effortlessly drew everyone's attention to him... his performance was engaging. I didn't expect it to be that good! His voice was beautiful... and when he sang it just brought the emotions out of you. Like.. woahh..
James Morrison, not surprisngly, got all the girls (and one super-excited boy) screaming like crazy. He was absolutely adorable, a typical British lad with his amusing British humor. He had very good crowd interaction skills, making everyone there feel as though they're connected to him. Such a dear boy!! I wanted to go up to him, pat his head and go "Anya! Anyaa!" Needless to say his singing was great... I love his voice. I think the raspiness of it is what makes the emotions of the songs come through. Very raw.

Live & Loud: R&B
|
|
Wednesday night, 28th December.
Decided to go for the R&B night too as I wanted to see Mint Condition and K-Ci & Jojo. Found the entire concert a bit boring, probably because there were too many quiet lulls in between the acts. So the event became very draggy. Lil'G of Silk was a bit.. uhhh... off-putting! Haha.. he was putting on this so-called sex-hot-rod persona on stage and that was like... eyeewwwwww *cringes*. Oh well, some girls must've found that hot.
Mint Condition was good... K-Ci and Jojo were okay too, except that at one point of their set they got a bunch of girls to come up on stage and everyone started gyrating and dry-humping away. They must've forgotten about that incident with Akon. And that this was Malaysia. Heh. Weird and I, we just watched in amusement.

Tuesday night, 27th December.
Went for my first Live & Loud concert of the week... 80's night, featuring James Ingram and Kool & The Gang Tickets were courtesy of Mak Ngah *cough* I mean Pn Khalilah *cough* of Plus HIghway. Weird and Hisham were there too, and we were seated in the center, some 5 rows from the stage.
James Ingram's performance made us emo hahahhaa... serious... menyayat hati sungguh. But after that once Kool & The Gang came on, it was boogie time!! Woot! Cocok bhoolan bersama pakcik-pakcik tua ligat menari

Amin and my real identities! Movie poster paling champion evahhh

|
Story goes... Amin added me on Facebook. I approved and put a record of knowing him by being in the same spy network together, naming it "Secret Agents Kicking Asses Internationally" aka "SAKAI" . Last night a bunch of us had supper - Eema, Muna, Amin, Izyan, her two friends, Weird, and I - and I told them of the newly-founded organization. Eema & Muna remarked, "Hahaaa korang boleh buat mcm Mr & Mrs Smith!" and I added, "Mr & Mrs Sakai!!" sambil kami smua gelak berguling-guling.
Today I logged online and found this picture from my new sidekick! Memang bertuah la buat lawak sebegini dengan Amin, who is a photo-manip-aholic... terus semangat budak nih buat artwork baru ahahaha!
p/s: Guess who I met today? Shay Norman!!! Saw him dance too and OHMYGOD no wonder he's on Madonna's troupe... that dude can MOOOOVE hot giler tolong ahh *awestruck*

My first ride in Kysern's new Mazda 3 woot!

6.45am alarm set despite only getting home at 1.30am last night. Still, woke up with a vigour in high anticipation of what lay ahead...
Kysern, yes he-who-insisted-we-be-on-time-and-said-he'd-pick-me-up-at-7.40am, overslept. Felt like whacking him hahaha. But we didn't run too late.. met up with Kelly in Uptown and had breakfast at a mamak next to the car workshop she'd sent her car for realignment.
With tummies fueled and energies aplenty (well...not really... we were still yawning away quite a bit hehe), we were ready to embark on our mission!!! TO HUNT FOR BOOKS! (Eema, Izyan and Feruz went too, I met up with them there)
The Penguin books warehouse sale is LOVE. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Even went down on my knees and got all dusty from rummaging in the boxes they had underneath the tables. It was well worth it... the bag I brought started to overflow and we had a time-limit of 11am (Kelly had to get back by 11.30), therefore my shopping was limited. Which is a good thing I guess. Had I had the time to finish the remaining half of the area laid out with books I'd probably have busted my budget for the month. Still fighting the urge to go back there tomorrow morning to finish my hunt. Can't get rid of the feeling that there might just be a few more treasures burried somewhere in the piles, just waiting for me to find them. Tch.
Looks like my reading queue just increased by a few more thousand pages... now, if only there was a warehouse sale selling time.

The whole family is in Melbourne celebrating Raya together! Wheee!
Here are some preview pictures... will do full picture-posting another time. I'll let Baba do the 'proper' uploads on his fotopage too heheh.
We went to Malaysia Hall in the morning for Raya prayers. After that we had our picture-taking session at Exhibition Park and that was pretty funny 'cuz kitorang bersungguh-sungguh tangkap gambar kalah orang kahwin, dressed in our baju kurungs and baju melayu. All the mat salleh passers by looked on at us a bit weirdly.
Didn't do anything else the rest of the day. Mummy bertungkus-lumus masak non-stop in the kitchen, preparing for our open house tomorrow (buat a small one here at Izhar's apartment). I learnt how to make roti jala, and they turned out pretty so yeay I have a knack at it
OHH! Guess who I met this morning? AMAR!! Heehee... ex-bassist tersayang tuh (oh sorry Yoojean...you are my bassist tersayang oso, I have much love to give so don't worry ). I dropped him a message thinking he was still in Brisbane... rupenye he's now working in Melbourne for a month already and dah kenal my brothers and even bumped into Baba yesterday when Baba saw him shopping and wanted to ask where he got his serai from
From all of us, The Moslim Family, here in Melbourne... we wish all of our friends and family back home SELAMAT HARI RAYA, and MAAF ZAHIR & BATIN!!!

Carl's Jr & Hairspray
|
|
x-posted in flickr
What initially started out as a plan for a small get-together with my friends turned out into a bit gathering... it was almost as if we were having a party! A whole big bunch of my friends turned up... friends from work, friends from uni, friends from the mental institution I was admitted to a while ago... (har! ;-p)
We started off with buka puasa at Carl's Jr, conquering 5 tables with everyone squishing together and making a racket in the back of the family restaurant. A bunch of hyper mid-twenty-year-old-monkeys.
After that we wanted to play in the arcade but that was closed... so we went to Starbucks and played this silly game of naming famous people. That helped while away some time before our movie started at 9.40pm.
And then we watched HAIRSPRAY! (I bought 19 tickets in total for everyone.. felt like I might as well have bought the entire cinema out and had a movie party). I soooo love that movie, it's funny and extremely feel-goody. I can't remember any recent movies that had me grinning throughout the entire show. Needless to say I was dancing and singing upon exiting the theatre and into the night.
I wish my life was a musical. That'll be wicked

I tagged along with Mummy and Baba to KL last Sunday... and figured I should do it more often haha. Mummy and I went shoe-shopping (she can't blame me for the amount of shoes I have here in Putrajaya... I got the shoe-crazy obsession from her!! ), and Mummy belanja 2 pairs of shoes for me yeay! THANK YOU MUMMY!!
And then on the walk back to our car, we passed through Isetan's toy section and I saw a Transformers Chess Set and it was soooo pretttyyyyyy and coooooool and I took it wanting to pay for it when suddenly Baba said, "Takpelah meh... Baba belanje. How much is it?" I was like ... serious Baba wants to pay for a Transformers Chess Set?? For meeeeee??? Hehehehe Baba laughed and said apa salahnye, he tak pernah buy me toys pun masa kecik2 dulu (Mummy yang slalu belikan) . THANK YOU BABA!!! If I was still in school I'd promise to score straight A's in my exams.. but since I'm not, and no way am I going to promise to aspire to be CEO of Shell, so mcm.. err... I'll just promise to keep settling my credit card bills hahaha. Peace.
Happy gile okeh. Nak main chess sambil pakai kasut cantek.
